The West of Scotland division was set up in 1993 and remains one of the most active divisions of the FGDP in the UK. Currently there are in excess of 120 members.
Our diploma study groups have been running throughout this time as the exam changed from the DGDP, to the MFGDP and now to the MJDF. This is the first step on the career pathway for GDPs. There has been a surge of interest in this exam in recent years with our study group full each year and a waiting list for the following year. Email Mark from our Contact Us/MJDF Study Group pages if you are interested.
We run a very successful annual clinical study day in Glasgow in early December. It is now in its 17th year. This regularly attracts an audience of over 300 dentists to hear internationally renowned speakers.
This year's meeting will take place on the 3rd of December. After 5 years in the Royal Concert Hall we are moving to Glasgow Science Centre. We are delighted to welcome Didier Diecchi and Michel Magne and are excited at the prospect of them using the iMax theatre for the lectures. We plan to make this event extra special with the usual drinks reception and a new after event party.
This is my third year as Divisonal Director and I am looking forward to working with the new divisional board. All in all, we are lucky to be part of an active and vibrant division. I would like to thank all our committee members for the time and effort they have spend helping us achieve this over the years.
Conor O'Malley 6/3/10
